Aarati Ramanand, started her training in Bharathanatyam, Mohiniattam, and Carnatic Music at the tender age of four. She had her Bharathanatya Arangetram at Narada Gana Sabha, Madras in 1994 under the tutelage of Kalaimamamani Smt. K. J. Sarasa. Since then she has performed on many stages, including Krishna Gana Sabha, and The Music Academy during the 1997 and 1998 dance festivals in Madras and on the stage of the Indian Fine Arts Society in the 1999 dance festival. In Music Academy, she had the proud privilege of dancing along with the eminent dancer Shobana, in a dance jugalbandhi (rhythmic debate) choreographed by Shobana, along with the eminent Tavil maestro, Sri. Valaypatti.

She continues her tutelage with Smt. K. J. Sarasa. While in New York, she has had the privilege of coming under the guidance of the renowned dancer Smt. Swati Bhise, with whom she performed at the prestigious Clark Theater at the Lincoln Center of Performing Arts, and the American Museum of Natural History during their showcase on “Women in History”. She also conducted workshops on Bharathanatyam and Carnatic Music for the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Folk Arts Program for the year 2000. In July 2001, Aarati was invited to the Smithsonian Institute to represent Indian culture in New York City for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Aarati has also performed at the prestigious United Nations General Assembly during a showcase for women on Mother-Daughter Day. She was named a United Nations Role Model for her dedication to her culture and heritage. It was a memorable and unforgettable experience for Aarati. Most recently, she was a featured artist at the Indian Consulate in New York during their Holi Festival (Festival of Colors) celebrations.

In addition to Bharathanatyam, Aarati is also accomplished artiste in Carnatic Music, Western Music, Ballet, Tap and Jazz. She has won many laurels in these fields as well. She won the national music competition conducted by the Carnatic Music Association of North America (CMANA) two years in a row and she had her Carnatic Music Arangetram in 1993 under the CMANA banner. While in high school in New York, she auditioned for and was accepted into Dance Theatre Eclectic, a professional ballet and modern dance troupe, with whom she performs with to this day. With them, she performed many times at the prestigious Tilles Center in New York. She also performed at national level vocal competitions and workshops with her high school barbershop quartet including the NYSSMA All-State and All-Eastern Conferences. In August 2004, she was a featured artist at the New York Hindu Temple's Guru Raghavendra celebrations and performed the inaugral Vocal concert in the new Saraswathi Auditorium.

Aarati is educated in Mathematics and Computer Science, and is a software programmer by profession. Additionally, she is currently a principal dancer, associate instructor, and choreographer at Mukthambar Fine Arts Inc., a premier institution of Indian Dance and Music founded by Saavitri Ramanand.
